Hello Everyone, I hope you had the opportunity to enjoy some of the many graduation ceremonies that have taken place thus far this month. I personally have had great nieces & nephews to graduate both high school and college. It is a blessing for me to see them and others in the communities move forward equipped with the tools to be successful. Congratulations and best wishes to ALL graduates, in your future endeavors.
Church News:
Live Oak UMC:
*The men of the church served a Mothers Day dinner for all the mothers in attendance on Sunday, May 17th. Gifts were given to each Mom as well. Though “Mother’s Day" was on May 10th (according to the calendar) it didn’t match Live Oak’s worship Sundays. For this reason the church honored Mothers on May 17th. This proves that we don;t have to wait for a certain day to honor our Mothers. Thanks to all who helped and for a job well done!
Pilgrim Rest MBC:
*Pastor Jimcoily will be the guest speaker for the Spring Revival at Ford Chapel in Sandy Hook, MS. The dates for this blessed event are: Sunday May 24th at 12 noon and May 25th-27th/ Monday-Wednesday at 7 pm nightly. The revival theme is: Return, Refresh, Renew (2 Chronicles 7:14).
Sunlight MBC:
*During the Youth Service on May 17th, Graduates were recognized. All those that graduated from high school, middle & elementary school were celebrated. I was intrigued by a particular part of the gift giving. The honorees were given gift bags/boxes and the congregation was invited to contribute gifts if we wished to. This brought both me and the graduates joy. Such a great idea!
School News:
Varnado High School (VHS/VJHS):
The VHS Class of 1976 recently celebrated their Golden 50th Year Anniversary. This is such a blessing to experience. *Congratulations and God Bless you all!
*Summer Feeding Program: June 23-25/11am-12pm/LUNCH ONLY. Via Facebook: I and others have questioned this schedule and requested more services for the children of this area.
Reflections:
*On Revisiting Gardening: I am actually beginning to harvest some yellow squash and sharing it as well. These plants produce some of the biggest, brightest blooms in my garden. In addition, it looks like the tomatoes are going to be next. I’m fascinated about the process of this “real-time” Science project. Because I am a retired educator I’ve come to the conclusion that: You can take a Science teacher out of the classroom but, you can’t take the classroom out of the Science teacher.
