Church News:
Wesley Ray UMC:
*Pastor Robert Johnson’s “Word of Hope” was taken from the Gospel according to Matthew 14:22-33 with emphasis on verse “29” and was entitled “Get Out of the Boat”! Pastor Johnson shared that many of us “stay in the boat too long” trying to please others, instead of Trusting Jesus when He saids, “COME”. He also reminded us that we can’t “walk on water” while holding on to the boat. In addition, the Pastor asked the question, “Are you willing to take that first step out of the boat”? ***Amen
First MBC (Varnado):
*Since October is Pastor Appreciation month, the church congregation celebrated their Pastor, Kelly Penton and Youth Pastor, Mike Matthews on Sunday, Oct. 11th. Both shared a beautiful cake that was shaped like a bible and a yard sign is on display to show community appreciation for the Pastors as well. In addition, refreshments were enjoyed by all to further celebrate their Pastors faithfulness to serving God.

Reflections:
*On Family Time: I had the awesome opportunity during worship service Sunday to observe a few family interactions that made my heart glad. I was sitting near a young man that had his son (a toddler) with him in church. This alone is a blessing however, I want to share how I intentionally made moves to make this young father feel welcome. I tapped him on the shoulder then extended my hand to greet him and he enthusiastically responded to both. As the service moved along, his son acted like your typical toddler (constant movement, yelling out playfully, etc.) but I didn’t call attention to it, but instead later told the Dad I look forward to seeing them both at the next worship service. I shared with the Dad that I was proud of him for bringing his son to church and he smiled real big. The moral of this story is that in the past I would have been annoyed by what I deemed as parents not controlling their children in church and have even changed my seat to get further away. But now as I become more mature in God’s Word, I intentionally choose to stay close and encourage others. My spiritual growth keeps me grounded and more in touch with the needs of others and for that I am Grateful to God. I hope my sharing helps somebody. ***Joyfully, GPigott***
