The Bowling Green Bucs hosted the Rebels of Amite School Center last Friday. The Bucs were looking to pick up a big win in the 2026 homecoming game and they would do just that.
After two turnovers by the Bucs and a blocked punt from BGS, Bowling Green's offense finally got untracked. The Buccaneers defense forced an ASC punt and took over at their own 38 yard line. Nick Schilling carried on first down for 18 yards down to the 20 before picking up 11 more and setting up a first down and goal at the 9. Keelan Jackson put the Bucs on the board two plays later from 5 yards out. Pryce O'Shaughnessy's extra point gave the Bucs a 7-0 lead.
Three players later, BGS forced a punt and the Buccaneers offense took over at their own 34 yard line. Dupuy tossed the ball forward to Nathan Pylant who ran around and left end before being pushed out of bounds at midfield. Dupuy found Cole Cooper on the next play and the tight end caught the ball at the 38 and ran untouched into the end zone for the second Buccaneers touchdown of the game. O'Shaughnessy.'s extra point made it 14-0.
ACS was forced to punt again and this one rolled out of bounds at the Rebels 34 yard line. With the Bucs facing a fourth down, Dupuy found Jackson in the middle before he reversed course and outrunning the Rebels down the right side line to complete the 32 yard touchdown. O'Shaughnessy converted the extra point to give Bowling Green 21-0 lead.
After another ASC punt, Dupuy connected with Kolt Killingsworth on first down for a 70 yard catch and run. O'Shaughnessy was successful on the extra point and Bowling Green led 28-0 in the second quarter.
The Bucs took over again at their own 41. Schilling capped off the drive with a 28 yard touchdown run. O'Shaughnessy converted again and BGS increased their lead to 35-0. Bowling Green would take this lead at the half over the visiting ASC Rebels.
ASC received the second half kickoff. On the second play from scrimmage, ASC fumbled and the ball was recovered by Killingsworth. With the football resting on the ASC 42 yard line, Marcus Barnett took a handoff from Dupuy and ran into the end zone. O'Shaughnessy kicked his fifth consecutive extra point of the game to put the Bucs ahead 42-0.
On the ensuing kickoff, ASC's Fleming fielded the ball at the 22 yard line and returned the kickoff for a 78 yard touchdown. The extra point was missed and the Bucs led 42-6.
The Buccaneers would lineup for an O'Shaughnessy field goal attempt. The snap was high to Killingsworth and the holder gathered the ball and scampered 35 yards down the right side line for a Buccaneers touchdown. O'Shaughnessy kicked his seventh extra point of the game to make it a 49-6 Bowling Green lead. That would be the last score of the game as the Bucs celebrated a 49-6 homecoming win.
This Friday Bowling Green will travel to Oak Forest Academy to take on the Yellow Jackets. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 PM in Amite.
