It is my last week before school starts for teachers. I am excited to start another year, but sad at the same time because I will have a Senior! I have no idea where the time has gone, but I am so thankful to be her and her sister’s mama! I don’t plan to miss a single activity this year for either girl.
This will begin my 23rd year of being a teacher. I started out in Bogalusa for my first two years and began teaching at Enon 20 years ago. I love the fact that I am a 3rd generation teacher at Enon Elementary School. (Maw Maw: Delta Mae Wood, Mom: Beryl Jo Sharp, then me)
We had a wonderful Youth Sunday Service at Enon Baptist Church on Sunday. The Youth were able to give us a taste of being at camp by recreating different aspects of it. There were several testimonies, stories, jokes, and even a baptism for Cody Comeaux. (we will be having several more baptisms coming up soon) We are so proud of our Youth and thankful for their walk with Christ.
July 30th will be the Women’s Marshmallow Olympics. August 6th will be Parents Night Out/Paint Party and August 13th Back to School Splashdown.
Condolences to the family of Shane Young and Lonnie McGee.
Happy birthday to Judy Fussell, Marilyn Williams, Julie Wheeler, Patsy Rester Welch, Wanda Loyd, Maureen Magee, Karla Altaf, Dylan Varnado, Will Thomas, Linda Jones, and Kaylor Jones.
Enon Elementary School is looking for a part-time and full-time cafeteria worker. You can look at the Washington Parish School System Facebook page for other possible job openings.
The Washington Parish School Board had a reception for the retirees for this past school year. My brother Mike Sharp was one of the retirees. He drove a bus for 34 and a half years, and yes it was quite unique for my oldest brother to also be my school bus driver when I was at Franklinton High School. (haha)
School will begin for students on August 5th. If you need any other information, please check the school or school board website or Facebook page. Enon Elementary will have a Meet Your Teacher on August 3, 2022. 5th and 6th grade: 11 to 12, 3rd and 4th grade 12 to 1, 1st and 2nd grade 1 to 2, and PreK and Kindergarten 2 to 3.
I hope you have a great week and are able to stay cool. This heat is no joke and so many folks have been getting way too hot. Please try to stay hydrated and indoors during the heat of the day.
If you have any birthdays, births, weddings, reunions, or other functions coming up please feel free to email or message me with that information. karen.thigpen@yahoo.com Until next week….
