The Veterans of our community were honored this past Friday at Mt. Hermon School’s Veterans Day Program, which was organized by the Sr. Beta Club. It was an honor for them to be able to recognize our Veterans for their service to this great nation.
Congratulations to Weston Fortenberry for placing 9th at the Regional Track Meet! He had an impressive time of 3.1 miles in 18:49. He will now go on to compete in the state championship next Tuesday. Good luck, Weston!
The jr. high basketball team will play Franklinton at home on November 18th, then at Pine on the 21st. The high school team will play Sumner at home on Nov. 19th.
Next Friday, Nov. 22nd, Bert Burr will be at school to take Christmas, Senior Banner, and sports pictures.
There were eleven ladies from Mt. Hermon Baptist Church that attended the LIFT (Ladies In Faith Together) Conference on Nov. 2nd in Bogalusa. They had a blessed day of receiving spiritual encouragement and resources for ministry, and fellowshipping with other sisters in Christ.
The Veterans of Mt. Hermon United Pentecostal Church were recognized this past Sunday, and a few of the children sang “God Bless the U.S.A. to honor them. Those recognized were Bro. Paul Badeaux, Bro. Gerald Lebo and Bro. Jim Miller.
The Young at Hearts will meet this Thursday, Nov. 14th 11:30 AM at Mike’s Catfish in Amite for a time of food, fellowship and fun.
Sunday, Nov. 24th will be “Old Timey Sunday”. Everyone is encouraged to wear overalls or an old-fashioned dress. Also, after the morning service, will be our church family Thanksgiving dinner. Bring your favorite dish.
The Gill family met last Monday at the home of Ronnie and Linda Tamor for an early Thanksgiving gathering. Those who joined Ronnie and Linda were Earl and Rachel Gill, Cindy and Joe Reynolds, Daniel Gill, Marie Gill Webb, Judy Gill, Diane Carter and Brenda Wilson. They all enjoyed the day as they laughed, reminisced, and had a small feast.
