Hello to all my faithful readers! Summer vacation will soon come to a close. Only a few more days til those school bells ring again. I'll be happy to see everyone. There will be lots of new faces. By the way, I look forward to subbing again this year. This makes my 19th year. It brightens my day when I'm at school and doing my part in the classroom. Let's all get on board and make this school year the best ever.
Mrs. Inez Brown asked my sister Jackie about me, concerning the ant bites. Well, I itched and scratched for days before they were better. It was an experience all right. Mrs. Brown, I am thankful to know that you read my column each week, that really lifts my spirit. Thanks to you and others who keep up with me in the newspaper. Please keep on supporting me.
My son Bryan celebrated his 55th birthday on Sunday, July 7th. We had lunch at Café' Bouchee. Gathering on this special occasion were Jackie Smith, Greg Seal, Larell Morris, Troy Ingram, Jerry Varnado, Louis Tate, the birthday boy and I. We enjoyed our favorite lunch and lots of chit chat. Instead of cake we had chocolate Dream Dessert. The birthday song and wishes showered the honoree.
Joshua Burch recently visited with his family for several days. While visiting they had a belated birthday celebration. His birthday was on June 22nd and was 13 years old. He's a teenager now. Family members gathered at the home of Evelyn Burch's for the celebration.
We're still collecting soups for the Help Center. There is a basket at the church to place the soups in. Thank you for your help.
Happy July wedding anniversaries to the following couples: My granddaughter Amanda and Mike Huggins, Eddie and Stace Bergeron, Alvin and Shonda Brumfield, Bro. Scott and Kelly Spinks, Charles and Jean Stafford, and Coach "B" and Cindy Alford.
My great nephew Tanner and Olivia Watson are proud parents of a baby girl named Charolette Grace. She was born on June 3rd and weighed 7 pounds 8 ounces and 19 ½ inches long. She is the little sister to Peter Owen. Congratulations to you for a healthy little bundle of joy. Her great grandmother is Lorell Morris of Franklinton.
We've had rain in our area for seven days straight Tuesday, July 17th through the 23rd. On July 17th it was bad weather and we had hail.
I visited with my sister Lorell a few days ago. She had made a fresh apple pie, topped off with a scoop of ice cream. Yum! We enjoyed the visit and the treat.
Summer school was held at Franklinton this year. Mrs. Fame Miller was one of the teachers. They went four days a week, Monday-Thursday. Several MHS students went. Their vacation was cut short, but at least they had a short one.
I received a phone call from my friend Lavria Sandifer to learn that her dad John A. Heidel III, age 88, had passed away. He lived in Franklinton. Please lift the family up in your prayers. I love you Lavria. Remember our God can and will take care of everything.
Please pray for all the needs in our community and surrounding area. That's all for now. I'll visit with you next week, same time-same station. Prayerfully, Nell.
