Hopefully you all had a fun and safe Fourth of July. Family and friends through our country gathered to celebrate. The weather was nice here. Late afternoon we had some thundering and a light shower to cool things off. Some folks grilled, went swimming, ate watermelon, plus other activities. My son Bryan grilled and my sister Jackie came to have lunch with me.
After lunch we decided to go visit with Ms. Barbara Smith. It was good to chat with her and Chance, also her daughter Gretchen and baby, Jason, Fame and girls, and Pearl. When we returned home our taste buds were ready for another piece of grilled ribs and a good cold coke. After Jackie left I was ready to relax in my recliner for a while. Also visiting was my son Bill and his friend Jennifer. It was good to see them. Just before dark they left to return home. Naturally we did get some rain late afternoon. That night I could hear the fireworks popping nearby.
The Red Hat GRITS girls had their June outing at the Bogue Chitto Café recently. Eleven ladies enjoyed a delicious country meal. Chris, the manager welcomed us and made sure we had everything we needed. When we get ready to take our picture, he gracefully joined us and was happy to do so.
Ms. Anna Dillon was recently surprised with a birthday celebration held at Kingcarters in Franklinton. Family and friends gathered for the joyous occasion. I called to wish her a happy birthday. She didn't take my call, so I left it on the answering machine. When I did get her, she was overjoyed telling me about her first ever birthday party. Ms. Anna has been a special friend, since I met her several years ago when I worked at LSU AgCenter, teaching nutrition. I met with her and her daughter weekly in her home until twelve lessons were completed and received certificate. Ms. Anna is quite a woman, one of a kind and believes in speaking her thoughts. I love you Ms. Anna.
Bryan and I had Sunday lunch at Café Bouchee on Father's Day. My sister Jackie joined us. Breanna also treated her dad to lunch in Columbia later.
Happy belated birthday to Ms. Debra Burris who had a birthday on June 29th.
Get well wishes to the sick folks. Ms. Debra Burris’ mother Derdis is doing better. Ms. Louise Hart recently had knee surgery. Continue to remember them in prayer for healing. Also remember Mrs. Kathy Dykes, Connie Sue Fisher, Jeff Knight, and Bro. Fred Brumfield in your prayers.
Mothers at Mt. Pisgah church were honored during the Sunday morning worship hour. The youngest mother was Jordan Jones, oldest mother was Nell Smith, mother with most children at church was Cherie Smith, and the youngest grandmother was Gwen Dickey. All mothers were presented a long stem fresh Carnation in colors of pink and red. Special music was by Bro. Rob's two young daughters Reagan and Millie. Prayer was voiced by Percy Raybourn. Nell presided over the special recognition.
Condolences to the dear family Billy Schilling, Carolyn McClendon, and Debra Boudreaux.
Until next week take good care of yourself, I will visit with you same time, same station- Be blessed, Nell.
