Hello to all my faithful readers. Well folks, October is gone and now already the sixth day into November. As we move into the holiday months things will get busier and probably will go by fast. As the time goes by, we get older each day and wonder where the time goes. Let's make the best of it and just do the best we can.
Let me tell you, I had a great day yesterday (Tuesday October 29th). I attended a birthday celebration for Ms. Minora Brock held at the Council on Aging. She was looking good for her 97th birthday. Meeting her family was special. By the way they are now in the new building, and it looked nice. After leaving there I drove to Tylertown to meet my granddaughter Breanna, and we went to Jennifer's for a visit. It was great sitting outside on the patio, relaxing, watching the kids play on the trampoline.
Congratulations to all this year's fall decorations contest winners. The fall decorations add an inviting look to our town for out-of-town visitors who come to the fair. The displays I saw were neat. Thanks to all who participated. Great job!
A baby shower was held for my great niece, Mary Ann Seal Lee on Saturday October 5th in the Museum Anex. She is the granddaughter of my sister Jackie. Everything was decorated in pink. She is expecting a baby girl in a couple weeks or so, she and her husband were excited as they opened all the gifts.
Monday, October 28 was my niece Sheila's birthday. She and her mom Lorell enjoyed a birthday treat at Red Bird Fried Chicken in Covington. They had shrimp and it was great.
Our ladies Mission groups met in the church fellowship hall for their October meeting. First on the agenda was prayer request for those sick and our missionaries who had a birthday. Frances voiced the prayer and the blessing for the food. Attending were Valerie Goings, Martha Miller, Frances Schilling, Kathy Johnson, Sue Alford, and I. We put together three sunshine baskets. We love reaching out in Christian Love in our community. What a blessing it is to make them smile and be thankful.
I was invited to go to the 2024 Fair Honoree Banquet on Monday Night, October 7th. The theme was "Small Town, Big Fair". Katie Jackson was this year's honoree. My great niece Ariel Seal greeted us upon arrival. Everything looked nice. The meal was delicious. During the program contestants in the fair queen/teen contest and rodeo queens were introduced. They looked nice.
By the way congratulations to Lisa Sphere, the fair poster contest winner. Also, congratulations to Beverly Taylor who was named Mile Branch honoree. She sat at the table with us. The music was provided by Eli Seals band and was enjoyed. Thanks to my sister Jackie Smith for inviting me. I really enjoyed being there and visiting with many I knew.
Happy belated October birthday to Hilda Oalmann, Chelsey Sharp Schilling, Darci Lourigan, Julie Miller, Betty Thomas, Kim Phillips, Ansely Knight, Mark Meir, Ben Morgan, David Wayne Alford, Mason Givens, Kenley Curole, Jacob Breaud, Carolyn Sharp Westmoreland, Tyler Graham, and Ms. Minora Brock.
Continue to pray for the sick and bereaved. Take care of yourself. I'll visit with you next week, prayerfully Nell.
