Parish Playoff Picture - We're going to begin our look at the power ratings this week with the four public school teams.
Franklinton is at #12 in Division 2 and looking good for now. With three games to go they still need to win to assure themselves of a playoff spot and if they win out could lock down a first round home game.
Pine is at #7 in Division 3 and also looking good. With only two games left on their schedule the games are more important. If they split the two games, they should still host a first round. Win both and they may even receive a bye (1-4 seeds have a bye this season). Lose both and they will have to hang on.
Bogalusa is in really good shape at #2 in Division 3. Their scenario is identical to Pine's. The game between these two on October 28 begins to have a lot of importance.
Varnado is on the bubble at #28 in Division 4 (only 28 teams qualify this season). They need to win, at minimum, two of the three remaining games to possibly qualify.
Notes and Quotes
"Yes, I'm proud of my team's effort and how far we have improved since the beginning of the season. We were penalized an awful lot and this is something that we will have to correct moving forward." Franklinton head coach Guy Lecompte
"A big win for the program. Down 20-7 at half but we liked where we were at. Not one player thought we were going to get beat. We said last week after a disappointing loss to Albany that we have to let it go and move on and now after a big win versus Amite we have to move on to Sumner." Pine head coach Bradley Seal
"Kids played hard, we just got out powered. Can't make mental errors against a good team. Still can have a chance to host in playoffs with a win this week." Bowling Green head coach Phill Junkins
"I'm happy for the kids. I think it was probably our most complete game this year. We opened with a tough schedule. I think Pine, Slaughter and Northlake Christian are a combined 17-4 and you saw Pine beat Amite Friday so we have played some pretty good competition. During that stretch of adversity, we had some kids quit and get hurt and that injury bug is hard to overcome at a small school. Hopefully, we can get a couple good practices in this week and are mentally tough enough to not let the Fair mess us up. It's always challenging to play during Fair week." Varnado head coach Adam Brumfield
"We had a good night, we came out great on offense and defense. We handled our business and now we are waiting to see where we go in the playoffs." Bens Ford head coach Destin Pittman
"We're disappointed in the loss but we made too many mistakes to win. I'm proud of our kids. They played hard." Pearl River head coach Eric Collins
"Pine played hard all four quarters and made plays when they had to. Too many penalties hurt us and not scoring when we had opportunities. Kudos to Coach Seal and staff for getting his kids prepared to play. We will fix us and go back to work." Amite head coach Zephaniah Powell
