It’s November already and the Thanksgiving holiday will be here soon. Regardless of the often difficult times that we are living in, challenge yourself to find something to be “Thankful” for, for at least 21 days this month. It has been said that it takes 21 days to form a habit and being “Thankful” is a habit worth forming.

Angie Baptist Church: The church is participating in the “Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child Project” that will deliver shoebox gifts-filled with fun toys, school supplies and hygiene items to children in need around the world. ***It is not too late for anyone (Individuals, families, churches and groups) to pack a shoebox. Information about the process is as follows: The Samaritan’s Purse is an international Christian relief and evangelism organization headed by Franklin Graham. Since 1993, more than 188 million Operation Christmas Child gift-filled shoe boxes have been distributed to children in more than 170 countries and territories. *Worship Service is held each Sunday @ 12 Noon and radio service is available, in the parking lot on station 107.9FM.
First Baptist Church (Varnado):
* Bro Kelly Penton, Pastor; Bro Mike Thomas, Associate Pastor and Bro Mike Mathews, Youth Pastor were all honored with a “Pastor’s Appreciation” fellowship, on Oct. 17th.
Mt. Zion BC (Varnado):
*Last week the church held a “Stomp the Devil” Fall Festival that included: food, bible trivia, games and “Fall Fun” for all. Dr. Byron C. Muse is the Senior Pastor, Rev. Lesley McKinley is the Youth Pastor and Minister Ella Foster is the Evangelist.

Varnado High School VHS:
*Congratulations to the VHS 2021 Homecoming Queen & 2021 Football Maid/Jayla Peters and Homecoming King Malik Patterson! In addition, the 2021 Miss Senior is Jalisia Jackson; Miss Junior is Jayla Jefferson; Miss Sophomore is Lauryn Smith and Miss Freshman is Chasidy Dyson. Congratulations to all! The VHS 2020 Homecoming Queen Te'Deschi Allen was in attendance to crown the 2021 Queen and her court. Te’Deschi is currently a Freshman at Alabama State University majoring in Biology.
* The Pride and Hope Ministry Youth Outreach catered the dinner for the Homecoming Court at the Pride & Hope Activity Center, in Angie.
*Sgt. Lionel Mark served as the VHS Homecoming Parade Marshal on Thursday, October 28th. Sgt. Mark is a member of the VHS Class of 1972 and is employed with the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office as a School Resource Officer.
* The Homecoming Dance for grades 6-8 is scheduled for Saturday, November 6th. The attire is semi-formal and admission is $10.
*** VHS Alumni Jadarrell Magee recently graduated from the Baton Rouge Police Department's 87th Training Academy. Best wishes on your decision to protect and serve the public.
