I not only promote but, I practice being kind as an important part of my lifestyle. I have witnessed many acts of kindness performed by others and I want to share one of those with you. Not long ago I was in line at a fast-food restaurant for breakfast, when I observed an individual refuse both an apology and an act of kindness from someone. The cashier had begun to take a group’s order when an older gentleman protested that he was next (he had been standing off to the side). One of the members of the group apologized and offered to pay for the man’s order. He refused this kind act. I let the group member know that I saw what happened and all he could do was offer. I am reminded of an old saying that fits this incident; You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink (John Heywood).
