Church News:
First Missionary Baptist Church (FMBC Varnado):
*The congregation wore “Blue” on Sunday, November 13th in observance of November being “National Diabetes Month”. I can personally identify with this gesture because I have a daughter who is a Type 1-Insulin Dependent Diabetic. She was diagnosed at age 11(5th grade) and is presently 39 years old, the mother of two (ages 13 & 16) and closely manages her condition. Thank you FMBC for bringing awareness to this chronic disease.
Mt. Zion BC (Varnado):
*Pastor Byron C. Muse and 1st Lady Deborah Muse will be honored for 6 years of Pastoral Service on Saturday, November 19th @ 6p.m. This celebration will be held @ Bethlehem Family Life Center in Bogalusa. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for children and the attire is semi-formal /dressy.
School News:
Varnado High School (VHS):
*The Veterans Day Program was composed of several outstanding presentations to honor our veterans, beginning with a hot breakfast . Students, cheerleaders and the blue angels all performed, as well as the band director playing the National Anthem on the violin. The Guest Speaker for this event was Bogalusa Mayor-Elect Tyrin Truong. VHS Principal Dr. Warren invited former VHS Principals Emma Ross and Jennifer Beninato to help with the veterans presentations. Each veteran was called by name and received a certificate of appreciation for their service. Thank you students, faculty and staff of VHS for a job well done!
Reflections:
*As I reflect on the WPSB District 9 race (of which I was a candidate), I am Thankful to God for the experience. I appreciate the vote of confidence that many citizens demonstrated for me, through their acts of voting. Now let’s continue to work together to support our schools, students, faculty, staff and current/re-elected school board representative to provide the best education possible for our students.
*Have an Amazing Week, GPigott*
