I hope you all had a great time at the Fall Fests, Trunk-R-Treats, and parties from this past Halloween Weekend. I saw so many cute costumes from crayons to mail carriers to astronauts. There were so many fun and creative things to do. I am so glad that I have friends and family who were able to take my girls out to fun places even when I could not because I was working on other things.
Congratulations to Mr. Mike Sharp (my oldest brother) on his retirement from being a bus driver at Enon Elementary school. Mike was a bus driver for 34 and a half years. He drove for Franklinton High School for a while and then moved to Enon Elementary School. It is funny to say, but my brother was my bus driver when I was in high school and then my co-worker at Enon Elementary. We hope you have an amazing retirement. Now both of my brothers (Ron retired in May from St. Tammany Parish as a teacher/coach) are retired and lots of folks smile and look at me and I smile and say, “Eight more years for me.???”
Enon Baptist Church had their Fall Fest Sunday night. There were lots of great people, games, costumes, chili, and other food! The Lord’s Supper will be observed Sunday morning on November 7th. We are still in need of a nursery worker for Wednesday and Sunday nights, if you are interested, please speak with Brother Chris. There is still time to gift the Georgia Barnette Mission Offering, we are about $150 shy of our goal.
Condolences to the families of Bill Husser, Ed Logan, and Flora Magee. Happy birthday to our awesome school counselor Jessica Easterling, Gloria Lewis, Conner Comeaux, Paige McGrath, my wonderful mother-in-law Sally Thigpen, Cledy Watson, Owen Daniels, and our Superintendent Frances Varnado.
Last week Enon Elementary School celebrated Red Ribbon Week and learned different ways to SAY NO TO DRUGS! There was a theme for each day and of course on Friday students could wear Halloween shirts and teachers were able to dress up. Kristal Provost, Kristen Thomas, and I were the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus. We have tried for about 3-4 years to do this, and we were finally successful! There was another set of Sanderson sisters, crayons, a plate of spaghetti, among other characters at school that day. We love seeing the smiles on all of our students faces. Our Talented Art students came home with many ribbons from the Washington Parish Fair.
The Enon Library had some cute trick or treaters stop by for a visit. The Washington Parish Board of Control is taking applications for Library Director. I hope you all have a great first week of November and enjoy this cool weather we are having right now. If you have any information to share, feel free to email, call, or message me anytime.
