This has been a busy week! The Mile Branch Pioneer Christmas kept us busy this weekend. My mother Beryl Jo Sharp, her sister Charlotte Ginn, and their cousin Clara Fay Adams (among others) sat in the Jones Cabin at Mile Branch to help tell the history of our family, cabin, and property. My great grandfather Burrell Jones was the owner, and he bought the property it was on along with the cabin in 1898. Yes, you read that right, 1898! It was moved to Mile Branch in about 1979. As a child I remember seeing all the army men (National Guard) picking it up and putting it on a truck and trailer to move. For some reason I remember a helicopter, but then again, I was 3 or 4 when they moved it, so it was probably a crane. That was a very interesting day to say the least!
The Enon Eagles had a beautiful float in the Franklinton Christmas Parade. We are so proud of our students, parents, and staff. Thank you for all you have done for us. December 9th and 10thwill be virtual days for all Washington Parish students. Please make sure you go over anything your student may need to complete. Pre-K is still on the Tree Unit and let me tell you, those babies know a LOT about trees. One student told her mom about deciduous trees, evergreen trees and the difference between the two. That was definitely a high light for me.
Kennedy Newman was the winner of the Enon Library Thanksgiving drawing. She won a gift certificate to Jack Brown’s. Make sure you take a minute to stop by and visit the ladies at the Enon Library. They have a variety of new books, and plenty of videos!
December 18th from 9 am to 11 am, Enon Baptist Church will be hosting a community Christmas Breakfast for kids ages 2 years to 6th grade. December 8th will be the monthly business meeting. Sunday night December 19th, the children will be bringing the Christmas Story. We look forward to seeing you all there. Condolences to the families of William Kent, Sr. and Frank Morgan. Happy Birthday to one of our awesome paraprofessionals Amy Miller, Keith Voth, Daniel Rester, Amira Kent, Kaysey Stegemeyer, River Blackwell, Chris Ginn, Bobbie Taber, Jamie Loyd, David Rester, Joann Miley, our WONDERFUL cafeteria manager Charlotte Garza, Jeremy Richardson, and Tina Ard. Congratulations to Danni and Dennis Xayasone on the birth of their son Cameron James.
Looks like it will be raining all week, but I hope you have a great week and enjoy time with friends and family. Until next week….
