Washington Parish District 9 Fire Department presented a plaque in memory of Mr. Bob Smith, a charter member of the Mt. Hermon Fire Dept., to Mrs. Kaye Smith and family, last Monday night. The plaque will be hung in the station, which was built by Mr. Bob and other charter members. Mr. Bob will always be remembered as being instrumental to this fire department, and the Mt. Hermon community will forever be grateful. Mr. Owen Tufts and Mr. Larry Blanchard are two of the charter members who were honored to be there for the presentation.
I would like to share a story that was told to me by Mrs. Kaye. It was over 30 years ago when Mrs. Kaye took a certain fourth grade class of hers on a field trip to the fire station. Chief Bob set a couch on fire. Every child got to hold the nozzle and help put the fire out. My husband Jeremy (now Chief Freeman) walked up to Mr. Bob and said, "I'm going to be a fireman one day." Mr. Bob replied, "Good, you can take my place." And, so he did.

Mt. Hermon School
This will be the first year for MHS to have a Drama Club! They plan to perform two plays, one at the end of each semester. Students who are interested in joining will need to see Ms. Tiffany Williams of Mrs. Miranda Fountain. They invite 7th-12th grade students to come be one of the founding members of the MHS Drama Club!

Bogue Chitto Baptist Church
The Back to School Family Day will be held at Bogue Chitto State Park on August 20th, beginning at 8:30 AM.
Sept. 11th-14th is their Revival, which will be led by Bro. Melvin Mordecai.
Mt. Hermon Baptist Church
This Friday, August 19th at 2 PM, a Women's Day Out will begin. This consists of going to Golden Corral, Edgewood Mall, and Hobby Lobby.
Disciple Kids and Youth will resume their Wednesday night classes on Sept. 7th.
Mt Hermon United Pentecostal Church
Pastor Randall Garcia's message to us last Sunday was titled "The Heritage". The focus Bible verse (you may have heard it from a song) was Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.
