Greetings to all my faithful readers! Hope you had a safe Labor Day weekend with your family and friends. We had an extra two days off, Tuesday and Wednesday, and back to school Thursday and Friday.
The back to school event at Mt. Pisgah was enjoyed by the children, youth and adults. The Sunday afternoon fun time began at 2 p.m. with fun on the waterslide, plus other fun activities. Hot days plus a variety of goodies were enjoyed by all, held in the church fellowship hall. To sum up the fun afternoon a movie was shown inside the church. Thanks to Miss Rachel Burch and her helpers for a great afternoon.
My sister Jackie and I enjoyed going to Tickfaw to hear Shallow Creek-Bluegrass Gospel. Gene Stone is a member of the group. He was a part of our church, years ago when his children were young. It was great seeing Gene and his wife Jackie. They were surprised to see us. By the way the first Friday night of the month they have special music and you are invited. Admission is FREE!
Surely you've heard that Elvis was in town, not in our town, but in Covington. A friend asked me if I wanted to go to the movie to see Elvis. You know my answer was yes! yes! It was a treat seeing and hearing Elvis' music. The guy playing the part of Elvis did a good job with his singing and movements. Seeing the movie brought back good memories of when Jackie and I went to Las Vegas years ago. This is when we saw Vana White, who was on the TV game show, "Wheel of Fortune". I can remember how my dad looked forward to seeing Vana on television. By the way, while we were in Las Vegas, we also saw an Elvis impersonator, The Platters, The Drifters and the Coasters. These were some great live shows, we enjoyed seeing while there. This was my first and last time to go to Las Vegas.
A week of revival service was held at Lawrence Creek Missionary Baptist Church. I attended the Sunday morning and afternoon servive. The preaching was good, but the music was outstanding. Special music was provided by the children, youth and adults. The pastor Bro. Dwane Ball preached during the morning service and Bro. Brad Cooper preached in the afternoon. My brother Troy and sister Jackie and Lorell also attended the morning service. Everyone enjoyed a bountiful meal following the morning worship. This is the church we grew up in and mother would always look forward to us coming on special occasions and this made her happy. It was great seeing my classmate Lois Tynes, plus a number of friends I don't see often.
A quick snack! Banana Split w/ your favorite ice cream (mine is Blue Bell Vanilla), two or three scoops in dish - add a sliced banana, top with whip cream, chocolate syrup and a cherry. Then enjoy it!
Let's join together to pray for the sick, shut-ins and those who have lost beloved ones.
Thought for the week! I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it. - Pablo Picasso
