Hello everyone! Beautiful weather? Yes! For two weeks we have had the kind of weather we all love, spring time. Word was the groundhog saw his shadow in Pennsylvania and that means we will have six more weeks of cold weather. Maybe when he came out he became confused or had a headache and didn't do as he was supposed to do. Who knows! We usually do have a cold spell before Easter. We will just have to wait and see what happens. Don't worry, just be thankful that we have had several beautiful days to enjoy. It just makes us want to go outside to do some things we haven't been able to do due to the cold weather. Let's try and be patient.
Last Thursday, I carried my sister Lorell to eat at Bogue Chitto Café and treated her to a belated birthday lunch. I didn't have a pretty decorated birthday cake, but carried her some plain cake to eat with Cool Whip and strawberries. It was nice visiting with Chris who makes sure his customers are taken care of. By the way, the food was delicious, especially the chicken fried steak.
The next day being Friday, Jackie asked me to ride with her to Covington. Afterwards we went to eat at Cracker Barrel since the next day was her birthday so I took this opportunity to treat her. We enjoyed the outing and got back safely. I had already made her a fresh strawberry treat the day before.
My friend, Evelyn Burch fell on Wednesday late afternoon a week ago. She was taken to the emergency room at Riverside. Thankfully she had just some scratches and bruises and no broken bones, thank the Lord.
During the next month of January and February numerous quilts, old and new, were on display at the D.A. Varnado Store Museum. Every weekend on Saturday and Sunday afternoon the museum was open to the public. Out of town visitors and local folks enjoyed their visit to see the quilts. The Quilt Seminar was held on Saturday in February. It turned out to be a great success. Everyone enjoyed the demonstrations, the delicious lunch and visiting. My sister Jackie loves helping at the museum. This month will be children's art. The Washington Parish school students are encouraged to enter their art.

Christian sympathy is sent out to the families who have lost loved ones. Pray for the family of Edgar "Jed" Jenkins Sr., 79, who passed away on Friday, February 17. The family of Pansy Bateman McClendon, 90, who died at her home in Mt. Hermon, February 19th.
Thought for the week! Everything that happens in this life is a gift. Even as you struggle through difficult times. You are gaining strength and wisdom that will help you to continue down the road.
Until next writing take good care of yourself and enjoy all the blessings everyday, yours truly Nell.
