Greetings—Giving Thanks!!
Thanksgiving is a special time for getting together with your family and friends. Most of you enjoyed the traditional meal of roasted turkey, ham, dressing, pumpkin or sweet potato pie, plus all the trimmings. The next holiday to celebrate will be Christmas which is only a month away.
Brother Lynn Martin was the guest speaker for our three day Fall Revival. The preaching and special music was truly a blessing.
**Youth Fundraiser** Please place your orders for Jambalaya dinners for $10.00. They can be picked up on Sunday, December 3rd. Our youth are planning to go to camp.
Local schools and churches observed Veteran’s Day. MHS had a Veteran’s Day Program at 9 am on Friday November 10th. The students did a great job presenting the program. Thanks to those who served our country. We appreciate you.
Celebrating a November birthday include the following: Alyssa Rando, Betsy Clark, Crystal “PeeWee” Watson O’Bryant, Sophe Lynn Slocum, Jeremy Blake Phelps, Eric Shaffield, Jessie Michel, Chance Lue, Cody Perry, Leighton Jones, Lela Bryan, Emma Rimes, Omira Williams, Gunner Easley, Eric Fain, Adreanna Stanford, Heather Ray Singley, Camisha Magee, Patricia Eubanks, Seth Goodman, Kennedy Colman, Malachi Sharp, Braxton Rogers, Jaxon Roger, Roxanne Harper and Doyle West.
The Mt. Hermon School Fall Festival was held on Friday night, October 27th. Games and fun activities were set up on the football field. Some of the fun things were costume contest, dunking booth, cupcake and cake walk to name a few. Our Cherie volunteered to take a turn in the dunking booth. Thank you, Cherie for being a good sport. You’re a brave girl! Fame and Cherie set up a table and handed out treat bags. Thanks to Mrs. Fame Miller for making arrangements for our church to be a part of this community endeavor.
I had a special treat on Monday night, October 9th, to attend the Fair Honoree Banquet at the Coke Plant in Bogalusa. Being honored was Mrs. Mercer Brumfield. She has been a part of our fair since 1973 and has enjoyed her years as a volunteer. The meal was great along with the honoree tribute to Mrs. Brumfield. This will be a very memorable occasion for me. When my sister, Jackie Smith, was the Fair Honoree in 2019, I was sick and wasn’t able to attend. This year I got to see what it was all about.
Every year the churches in the Washington Baptist Association have a special mission at the water booth in the Commercial Building. This year we handed out bottled water, gospel tracts and a friendly smile/greeting to the many fair goers. Everyone looks forward to coming by to see us and especially the refreshing water.
Thanks to Cherie Smith and children; they were there to help. Also, a “Big Thank You” to all of you who were willing to take time out of your busy schedule to minister to others during the five days of the fair. You surely will be blessed for all your kind deeds. Also, a special thanks to our dedicated lady, Mrs. Ivy, who was there to make sure everything was ready for all the shifts. The water booth is a popular place and is sponsored by our churches in the association.
The churches also gather at the Half Moon Bluff Baptist Church to sing ole time hymns. It’s a great place to come in and sit a spell while relaxing the body/feet and enjoy the singing, and joining other fellow Christians.
Celebrating November anniversaries are Brandon and Stacie Starnes, Tracy and Jessica Manchester, Bro. Joe and Barbara Baugh and Jeremy and Taylor McKenzie.
Please pray for the sick. Also heartfelt sympathy to those who have loss beloved ones.
Thought for the week! Never discourage anyone who continually makes progress, no matter how slow.-Plato
Have a blessed week. I look forward to visiting with you next week. Thank you Lord for the rain!
Prayerfully, Nell
