Well folks, we have had a week of cold weather around here. Monday was MLK day and then school was out for a couple days due to freezing temperatures. We had freezing rain Monday night. On Tuesday I had Red Hats. Thank the Lord it was not as bad as predicted. We only had five there. We had a fun and safe day, traveling there and back. We enjoyed a delicious meal at Bogue Chitto Café. For dessert I prepared Mississippi Mud, and brownies. At the time of this writing. Wednesday night it was still very cold.

A Christmas supper was hosted by Calvin Tate held at Mt. Hermon Ruritan Club on Saturday night on December 23rd. Family members, friends and his workers enjoyed visiting, the meal and playing bingo. Calvin entertained us with some of his hilarious jokes. His daughter Christy was in charge of fried fish, chicken, meatballs, salads, pasta, and desserts. Lots of fun was held by all. On our way home Jackie stopped to see Susan McNeese's beautiful lighted Christmas decorations.
I went with Jackie to the Christmas program at Lawrence Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Fellowship followed with lots of goodies enjoyed. I got to see friends I don't get to see often. Everyone in the program did a great job plus the singing.
Members of the Burch family gathered at the home of Evelyn Burch on Christmas day. Lots of good eating, playing the game Sneaky Santa and visiting, was fun for all. They returned on New Year's Day for lunch.
Before school was out for the holidays, the third grade MHS Christmas program was entitled the 'Littlest Christmas Tree". Parents and students enjoyed seeing the program. They all did a super job carrying out their parts. The students were under the direction of Ms. Laltoma Vernon, the music teacher.
Condolences to the dear family of Mike Mulina of our community. He is surely missed by family, friends and loving wife. Our dear friend Christy, you are in our love and prayers. May the Lord give you strength to continue on.
Please remember the sick, lonely and shut-ins, and the families who have lost loved ones.
By the way my friend Rick called me tonight, Wednesday and said I often say, "Baby it's cold outside" and he was correct. It's cold. Until next writing Keep on smiling no matter what the weather is. Remember it's winter time. When outside make sure you are dressed for the cold. Stay warm, your friendly correspondent, Nell.
