The Franklinton Demons baseball team split a pair of games last week with the Loranger Wolves in district action. The Demons how hold an 11-13 record with games coming up on Wednesday April 9 against Lakeshore on the road and a non-district game with Bogalusa on April 14 at home.
The Demons are currently #21 in the division II non-select power rankings. The top 24 teams will qualify for the playoffs.
The Demons opened the game with Dalton Freeman on the mound pitching well. He didn't allow a run until the fifth inning.
The Demons scored in the bottom of the sixth as Jordy Thomassen reached on an error, Freeman walked and Thomassen stole home to tie the game at 1-1. Daron Sinceno also drew a walk before Freeman scored on Kaden Breaux's single for a 2-1 lead. Sinceno then stole third and subsequently stole home for a 3-1 lead after six innings.
The Demons junior pitcher, Freeman, sat the Wolves batters down in order in the top of the seventh as the Demons secured the crucial district victory.
Dalton Freeman pitched a complete game allowing five hits, two walks and striking out ten. Offensively Freeman, Kaden Breaux and Jordy Thomassen each had a single.
Later in the week the Demons fell to Loranger on the road, 9-1.
