The Franklinton Demons baseball team played two games last week, both non district affairs, with mixed results as they defeated Holden 5-4 and fell to Central Private 8-1. The Demons are now 10-12 on the season and will travel to Loranger on April 2 and host Lakeshore on April 7, both crucial district games for the Demons.
Against Holden the Demons fell behind 2-0 in the second inning. They threatened to score in the bottom half of the second as they loaded the bases but could not push any across. They did cut the lead in half in the third as DaRon Sinceno drew a walk and scored on Kaden Breaux's single.
Holden increased the lead to 4-1 in the fourth before the Demons scored two in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 4-3 in favor of Holden.
Neither team threatened in the sixth but the Demons scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh as Jordy Thomassen drew a walk as did Dalton Freeman. A sacrifice bunt by Sinceno moved them into scoring position and Thomassen scored on a wild pitch to tie the game. Breaux reached on an error and Freeman scored on that same error to end the game with the Demons pulling it out 5-4.
JoJo Burkhalter pitched four innings for the Demons allowing six hits, walking three and striking out four. Jordy Thomassen pitched three innings allowing no hits, walking one and striking out four.
Offensively the Demons were led by Kaden Breaux with three singles, DaRon Sinceno with two singles and Elisha Hart with two singles.
Earlier in the week the Demons played another non district game against Central Private and fell 8-1. Bryce Barber was the starting pitcher for the Demons and gave up five hits in three innings and added two strikeouts. Ethan Buffinet pitched the remaining four innings allowing four hits and also striking out two. The Demons were led by Jordy Thomassen offensively with a double while DaRon Sinceno had a single.
