The Franklinton Demons baseball team split a pair of district games with the Archbishop Hannan Hawks last week. The Demons defeated the Hawks on the road 5-4 before falling to them at home 7-6.
On Friday the Hawks got out in front 1-0 in the top of the first inning before the Demons tied it up in the bottom half. The Demons used an error, a single and Kaden Breaux's RBI single to accomplish that feat.
The Demons took the lead 2-1 in the third as Bryce Barber was hit by a pitch before Breaux again drove in a run for the Demons with a double. The Hawks tied the game in the fourth before both teams scored in the fifth for a 3-3 tie.
The Hawks took the lead in the sixth 4-3 before the Demons scored two runs on three consecutive one out singles for a 5-4 lead. The Hawks then scored three in the top of the seventh for a 7-5 lead. The Demons managed one run in the bottom half of the final inning for the final score of 7-6.
The Demons were led offensively by Jordy Thomassen with three singles. DaRon Sinceno had two singles, Kaden Breaux had a double as did Caymen Pugh. Jojo Burkhalter and Bryce Barber each had a single.
Dalton Freeman pitched five innings allowing seven hits, no base on balls and striking out four batters. Rick Songy pitched one inning allowing two hits and striking out one. Caymen Pugh pitched one inning allowing three hits, one walk and striking out one.
The Demons will travel to Pearl River on Thursday March 19 for another district game followed by a non district game against Ponchatoula on Saturday March 21 at home. The Demons will also host Kentwood in a non district game on Monday March 23.
