The Franklinton Falcons football team won their third straight game of the season to run their record to 3-0 as they defeated the Mt Hermon Yellowjackets 32-0 last Tuesday on the road. The Falcons have now scored 92 points on the season while allowing their opponents exactly no points. The Falcons will play Varnado at home on September 22.
The Falcons recovered a fumble at the Mt Hermon 30 in the beginning of the game to set themselves up with a short field. Dempsey Freeman passed to Jy'Quarious Dykes for a thirty yard touchdown to put the Falcons up 6-0. On Mt Hermon's second drive Dykes intercepted a pass and returned it 33 yards for a touchdown to put the Falcons up 12-0 which would be the score at halftime.
The Falcons opened the second half scoring on one play as Knox Smith ripped off a 70 yard run. Matthew Zachary hit the extra point to move the score to 19-0. After recovering a fumble on the next Yellowjacket drive the Falcons scored two plays later as Freeman passed to Curtlin Bush for a 14 yard touchdown. Zachary hit the extra point again for a 26-0 score with 4:22 left in the third period.
Dykes intercepted another Mt Hermon pass on their next drive and returned it 43 yard for a touchdown. The extra point was no good and the score stood at 32-0. Coach Creel played a large number of reserves for the remainder of the game to seal the deal.
Coach Andy Creel was pleased with the win. "Good team win for all our guys and glad to get out of that game healthy. Big game next week against a very good Jewel Sumner team in a tough environment to play."
