The Franklinton Demons baseball team had a good week last week as they won games against Central (5-3) and Hammond (10-1) while dropping decisions against Lutcher (14-10) and Ponchatoula (1-0).
Against Central the Demons fell behind 2-0 in the first inning as Central used an error and three singles to plate the runs.
The Demons tied the game in the bottom of the first as Micah Wascom was walked as was Elisha Hart before JoJo Burkhalter doubled to tie the game.
After a scoreless second the Demons went on top in the third as Wascom hit a two run homerun with Rickken Burkhalter already on the bases with a single. Central tightened things up in the fourth with a run using a double, a hit batter and a single for a 4-3 score with the Demons retaining the lead.
In the sixth Central threatened but the Demons stamped out the threat and added a run in the bottom half of the inning. Wascom led off with a triple before a passed ball allowed him to score for a 5-3 Demons lead.
In the top of the seventh Dalton Freeman struck out the side to end any chance of a comeback by Central.
JoJo Burkhalter was the starting pitcher for the Demons and went three and two third innings allowing five hits and two walks. Dalton Freeman pitched three and one third innings allowing two hits, no walks and striking out four.
Micah Wascom was the leading hitter with a two run homerun and a triple, JoJo Burkhalter had a double and Kaden Buffinet and Rickken Burkhalter each had a single.
The Demons will host their annual tournament this week as they will play Sumner on Thursday, Northlake Christian on Friday and Doyle on Saturday. They will also host Pine on Monday March 11.
