The Franklinton Demons baseball team travelled out to Pine to participate in the Washington Parish Jamboree. The Demons faced off against the host Raiders before taking on the Bogalusa Lumberjacks, each in a three inning jamboree game.
The Demons scored two runs in the top of the first as Tryson Fowler lead off with a single before Micah Wascom doubled and Fowler was thrown out at the plate. Will Turner drew a walk before Dillon Pace singled in two runs to put the Demons on the scoreboard.
Going up against the Raiders, Coach Jeff Tageant sent out sophomore Micah Wascom as the starting pitcher. After allowing a lead off single to Chase Cooper Wascom struck out the next three batters.
The Demons were sat down in order in the second as were the Raiders. The Demon’s Nathan Parden singled to lead off the top of the third for the Demons before Wascom drew a walk and Will Turner singled in Parden. Pace singled in Wascom before Penton ground out to shortstop but pushed a run across. Pace then scored on a passed ball to put the Demons up 6-0 going into the bottom of the third.
The Raiders managed a runner when Chase Cooper again singled with two outs but a fly out to left ended the inning and the game.
Micah Wascom allowed one hit, no walks, no runs and struck out four batters in two innings of work. Will Turner allowed one hit, no runs, no walks and struck out one.
Against Bogalusa the Demons scored six runs in the first inning using one hit by Pace, three base on balls, an error and a hit batter.
They scored three more in the second when Fowler drew a walk before Trevor Vise tripled him in. Wascom then singled in Vise before Turner hit a sacrifice fly to allow the third run of the inning.
In the third inning the Demons scored one run as Parden was hit by a pitch moved around the base path on a couple of groundouts and scored when Cole Mayet singled.
The Lumberjacks were sat down in order in each of the first two innings and put one on in the third via walk but a nice double play by the Demons defense ended the inning.
Dillon Pace allowed no hits, no runs, no walks and struck out three in two innings of work. Banyan Penton allowed no hits, no runs, one walk and struck out one in one inning of work.
The Demons will be in action at home on Thursday February 24 against Hammond. They also have a double header on Saturday, February 26 against French Settlement and Northlake Christian at home. On Wednesday March 2 the Demons will host the Varnado Wildcats.
