Continuing our celebration of 100 years of Franklinton Demons football, we're going to look at the top players in Franklinton Demon football history. I thought I would break it down by decade and take the top players from each decade. I'm sure I will miss some so please realize this is not anything official, just the best list I could put together.
•In the 1920's there was Earl "Big Pinky" Foil as the quarterback for the Demons leading them over the Lumberjacks for the first time in 1926. 1927 saw Robbie Magee selected to the All State team after the Demons made a special trip by train to New Orleans to play Warren Easton and Jesuit.
•The 1930's had Billy Saxon as a back and quarterback as well as Thomas "Preacher" Bickham as an end.
•The 1940's had Richard Morgan and Tommy Babington who each went on to Pearl River college as a halfback and also had Jackson Brumfield who went on to Southern Miss then played for the 49ers.
•The 1950's saw the Demons have their next All State player with offensive lineman Donald Booty. Charles Passman, a back, went on to play for Tulane while Carey Bateman and Freddie Seal went on to play at PRC. Probably the most well known Demon from this decade is Darryl Jenkins, who was a quarterback for the Demons and went on to be an original member of the fabled "Chinese Bandits" of the 1958 LSU National Championship team.
•In the 1960's the talent seemed to take a big upswing certainly in the latter part of the decade, at least. Lonnie Myles and Dale Miller went on to play at LSU while Tommy Erwin, Hosea Davis, Jimmy Corkern and Brannon Leblanc were All State selections from the decade.
•The 1970s certainly had their fair share of talent as well with James Magruder going to play at SLU and back Woody Magee, lineman Lavon Welch and defensive lineman Greg Jefferson being All State selections.
•The 1980's saw two All State quarterbacks under a pass happy offense with Wade Warren and Reginald McMasters. Carlton Burris was also an All State linebacker while Charles Wilson was a three time All District linebacker and back as well as the 1983 District Defensive MVP.
•The 1990s did not have any all state quarterbacks but did have an All State receiver in Albert Theus who led the Demons in receiving yardage in 1992 while Cedric Gross was an All State kick returner in 1999. Buddy Garrett and Bo Jackson each were All State players at linebacker and back before signing to play with Southern.
•The 2000's were loaded with All State players and the Demons had one of their best decades ever record-wise as well. Terrance Magee was an All State selection as well as three time All District and holds numerous FHS football statistical records. Josh Robinson, Jhyryn Taylor and Keenan Wilson were each All State selections of offense while Ladarrius Bickham, Josh Marks, Ronnie Wheeler, Curtis Taylor and Brandon Taylor were All State selections on defense.
Magee went on to play for LSU, Robinson for Mississippi State and was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts, Curtis Taylor for LSU and was drafted by the 49ers and Brandon Taylor also played for LSU and was drafted by the San Diego Chargers.
•The 2010's had Adrian Magee as an All State selection who went on to play for LSU and won a National Championship in 2019. Azende Magee was a two time All District selection and signed with SLU.
