The Franklinton Demons football team was ejected from the class 4A playoffs in the first round last week by the Lakeshore Titans with a 62-31 drubbing from the district champions. The win drops the Demons to a 4-7 record for the season. Lakeshore will move on to play Cecilia.
The Titans scored twice in the first period, once on a four yard run by their back and then on an eighteen yard pass, to go up 13-0 after the first period.
The Titans added two more scores in the second on a thirty five yard screen pass, then on a twenty one yard pass to go up 27-0 with 6:45 left in the first half.
The Demons got on the scoreboard on the ensuing possession when Senqualon Conerly ripped off a nice 57 yard touchdown run to make the score 27-7.
The Titans then added two more scores, first on a thirty four yard run by their quarterback, and then on a 32 yard pick six interception to make the score 41-7 with 2:38 left in the first half.
The Demons scored on a three yard run by Khaled Waliagha that was set up by a long reception by Kelly Daniels from Zion Anders. Cole Colletti added the extra point and the score was 41-14.
The Demons attempted an onside kick, which was unsuccessful and the Titans scored again, this time on a twenty seven yard pass with three seconds left before the half. The score at the intermission would be 48-14.
In the second half the Titans added a seventeen yard touchdown run by their quarterback and a fifty yard screen pass touchdown to go up 62-14 late in the third period.
The Demons added a thirty four yard field goal by Colletti for a 62-17 lead, a five yard touchdown run by Kendarius Brumfield and another twenty yard touchdown run by Brumfield to cut the score down to 62-31 late in the game where upon the Titans ran out the clock.
Fourth year coach Jonathon Barber talked about his team after the game and was thankful for the support received. "I hate it for our kids, especially the seniors. They have worked extremely hard to get the program back in the right direction. Our guys have been through a lot of adversity the last couple of years and I'm proud of how they responded. Our young guys are talented and this experience will help the program moving forward. I'm thankful for all of our fans and support groups that showed up to support our team, forever and always Go Demons!"
Quarterback Zion Anders passed for 91 yards completing 6 passes of 21 attempts while throwing three interceptions. Kelly Daniels caught two passes for 61 yards, Micah Hart caught two passes for 16 yards, Kade Lavigne caught one pass for 6 yards and Senqualon Conerly caught one for 8 yards. Conerly also rushed 18 times for 134 yards and a touchdown. Kendarius Brumfield rushed 6 times for 44 yards and two touchdowns, Khaled Waliagha rushed twice for 3 yards and a touchdown, Kelly Daniels rushed twice for 12 yards and Micah Hart rushed once for 14 yards.
