The Franklinton Lady Demons went on the road and played their second district game against St. Scholastica Academy on Tuesday, March 12.
Skylar Branch was dominant in the circle, as she rang up 10 strikeouts in the Lady Demon's 10-0 victory over SSA. Branch gave up zero hits and zero runs over six innings while walking none.
Franklinton scored six runs in the fourth inning on the way to victory. An error scored one run, Kayden Ard doubled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, Payton Galloway drew a walk, scoring one run, and an error scored one run.
Franklinton opened the scoring in the second after Shyanne Burris homered to center field, scoring two runs.
The Lady Demons added one run in the third. SSA committed an error, making the score 3-0.
Karsen Boyet took the loss for SSA. She went one-third of an inning, surrendering five runs (zero earned) on three hits, striking out none and walking none. Sophia Sims stepped in the circle for SSA. The starting pitcher gave up two hits and three runs (two earned) over two and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking one.
Branch and Burris each collected two hits for Franklinton. Ard and Burris each drove in two runs for the Lady Demons. Branch stole three bases. The Lady Demons ran wild on the base paths, amassing six stolen bases for the game. Franklinton didn't commit a single error on the field. Heaven McNeese had the most chances in the field with 10.
FHS vs. Archbishop Hannon Hawks
The Lady Demons had trouble keeping up with Archbishop Hannon Varsity Hawks in an 8-0 loss on Thursday.
Archbishop Hannon got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Kodi Ricks singled, Khloe Renton grounded out, and Riley Williams singled, each scoring one run.
Ava Kulivan earned the win for the Hawks. She surrendered two hits and zero runs over six and two-thirds innings, striking out 10 and walking none. Skylar Branch took the loss for Franklinton. The starting pitcher went six innings, surrendering eight runs on 12 hits, striking out four and walking three.
Amaya Robertson and Shyanne Burris each collected one hit for Franklinton.
Archbishop Hannan amassed 12 hits in the game. Cheyenne Jenkins and Ricks were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Archbishop Hannon. Renton and Ricks each drove in two runs for Archbishop Hannon. Brianna Baldwin and Williams each collected multiple this for Archbishop Hannan. Kulivan threw an immaculate inning in the seventh, striking out the side on nine pitches. Williams and Ricks each stole multiple bases for the Hawks. Archbishop Hannan stole five bases in the game. The Hawks were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a singe error.
Sydnie Ferrant had the most chances in the field with 10.
FHS vs Haynes Academy
The Franklinton Lady Demons couldn't keep up with Haynes Academy and fell 12-1 on Friday.
Haynes Academy got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Julia doubled, and Julia scored after tagging up, each scoring one run.
A single by Ava, and a home run to left field by Haley helped Haynes Academy extend their early lead in the second.
Haley earned the win for Haynes Academy. The starting pitcher gave up two hits and one run over five innings, striking out nine and walking one. Skylar Branch took the loss for Franklinton. She went four and one third innings, surrendering 12 runs on 12 hits, and striking out eight and walking four.
Branch and Shyanne Burris each collected one hit for Franklinton. Burris led Franklinton with one run batted in. The third baseman went 1- for- 2 on the day.
Haynes Academy collected 12 hits in the game. Haley provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Haynes Academy with seven runs batted in. The number three hitter went 3 - for - 4 on the day.
