The Bowling Green JV Buccaneers faced Parklane Academy in McComb, Mississippi and hosted Hillcrest Academy before the Christmas break.
In action against Parklane Academy, the JV Pioneers held a 15-2 lead after one quarter. The JV Bucs battled back with a 9-6 advantage in the second and trailed 21-11 at the half. The JV Pioneers outscored BGS 9-5 in the third quarter. Bowling Green won the final period by a 11-6 margin, but the JV Pioneers claimed a 36-27 win.
Chris Williams and Wyatt Phelps each scored 6 points in the contest, Russell Williams, Zeke Burford and Preston Jarrell scored 4 apiece, Alex Brock added 2 points and Camrin Seal finished with 1.
The JV Bucs later hosted Hillcrest Academy. Bowling Green led the visitors from Jackson, Mississippi 10-8 after the first quarter. Hillcrest rebounded with a 12-8 second quarter advantage and led 20-18 at halftime. Hillcrest outscored BGS 9-8 in the third before the JV Bucs answered with a 13-10 margin to send the game to overtime tied at 39. Hillcrest outscored the JV Bucs 8-4 in the extra period to claim a 47-43 win.
Chris Williams and Zeke Burford had 10 points to lead in scoring. Russell Williams scored 6 points, Preston Jarrell had 5 with Dillon Hamilton, Camrin Seal and Wyatt Phelps adding 4 points each.
