The Franklinton Demons basketball team finished out their regular season with a nice win over district opponent Pearl River, 70-45. The Demons end their regular season with an 11-12 overall record and will qualify for the Division two non-select playoffs. Their first round game will be on the road this week vs Jennings.
The Demons and the Rebels were even through the first part of the opening period as the Rebels lead 9-8 midway. The Demons took the lead with a 7-0 run before ending the period with a 19-5 run to lead 27-14.
In the second period the Demons and the Rebels were again even as they both scored nine points in the period for a 36-23 halftime intermission lead.
The Demons pushed their lead to 53-34 in the third as they outscored the Rebels 17-11. Another 17-11 quarter for the fourth period and the Demons won handily 70-45.
RJ Hart was the leading scorer in the game with 24 points, Jaiden Garrett had 18 points, Omira Williams had 13 points and freshman Avantez Brumfield rounded out the double digit scorers for the Demons with 10. Amare Conerly had 2 points and Avery Brumfield also had 2 points.
Garrett had two highlight reel dunks in the game and Williams also had a very nice dunk as well to entertain the home crowd.
The Demons fell to Pearl River in junior varsity action 51-36.
