The Franklinton Junior High Falcons played in the St Tammany Parish Jr High Jamboree last week against William Pitcher. The format for the jamboree game was two twenty minute running clock halves.
The Falcons scored on their second drive of the first half on a six play, seventy six yard drive. There were three big plays on the drive as Avantez Brumfield had a run for over 20 yards, and Brian Dillon and Tyler Magee each had a pass reception for over 20 yards to set the Falcons up at the one yard line with a first and goal.
Brumfield ran the ball in from there for a 6-0 lead before a pass on the two point conversion was incomplete. This would be the score at the halftime.
The Falcons scored on their first possession of the second half when Nigel Cole ripped off a 65 yard touchdown run to put them up 12-0. Max Mangrum ran in the two point conversion for a 14-0 lead.
After holding William Pitcher the Falcons scored on their second drive of the second half, this time using six plays to go seventy yards. Jon Wesley Magee had a 48 yard run on the drive before A.J. Barber scored the touchdown from ten yards out to put the Falcons up 20-0. Rhett Anderson ran in the two point conversion for a 22-0 score which would be the final score in the Falcons victory.
Falcons coach Andy Creel had this to say after the game. "I saw a lot of things that we did well and I saw a lot of things that we need to work on. Overall I was pleased with our guys preparation for the game and their performance."
The Falcons have a game against Mt Hermon at Demon Stadium on September 13.
