As we move through January, we’ve been experiencing a variety of temperatures. The summertime warmth caused us to toss our jackets and sweaters to the side, while the cold temps made us pick them up again. We might control some of the things that occur in our lives but, the weather is not one of them.

Man killed in Mandeville wreck

On Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at approximately 10:40 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to a two-vehicle serious injury crash on US Highway 190 near Rapatel Street in St. Tammany Parish just east of Mandeville. The crash claimed the life of 50-year-old Joseph M. Fortes Jr. of Abita Springs.

The Pine Raiders football team traveled to Slidell to face the Pope John Paul Jaguars in a controlled scrimmage last Friday evening. The Raiders came away with a "win" as they scored three touchdowns to the Jaguars two scores.
