It’s a blessing to live in a community that has a Ruritan Club! They do so much for our community and school. The week before Easter, they hosted the Annual Easter Egg Hunt for MHS Pre-K and Kindergarten students. With over 600 eggs to find, the kids had an egg-cellent time! After the hunt and refreshments, Mrs. Celeste Hickman shared a special story with the group.
The Ruritan Club then donated books for the Pre-K and Kindergarten classrooms. Also, in March, all the 3rd graders were given their own dictionary.
MHS Sr. Beta Club is raffling off a beautiful swing. It’s solid wood, two-seater with armrests, and perfect for some front porch sitting. Tickets are only $5. The drawing will be on May 6th. See any Sr. Beta member for tickets. They appreciate all the support.
Congratulations to Darci Lourigan, MHS Class of 2023 graduate, for being named the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters Student Radio Broadcaster of the Year at the 2026 Prestige Awards in Baton Rouge. Darci is a Senior at Southeastern Louisiana University where she is a Communication and Media Studies major. She can be heard on the radio at KSLU 90.9 The Lion. Proud MHS faculty parents are Jeff and Sabrina Thomas. Mt. Hermon School and community are very proud of you, Darci!
Bogue Chitto Baptist Church had a wonderful turnout for their Bingo game gathering last Thursday. All enjoyed the fun, fellowship, and delicious food! They would like to thank all who contributed to the door prizes, the meal, or helped in any way. The next gathering is Thursday, May 14th, and they hope more people will be joining them.
Mt. Hermon Baptist Church Women’s Ministry now has a Blessing Box located at Rawls Pharmacy. It is stocked by the MHBC Women’s Ministry and anyone who wants to help for anyone who needs to be blessed with food items.
Mt. Hermon United Pentecostal Church will have chicken dinners ready for pick-up Saturday, April 25th, from 11-1, at the church or in Franklinton. Today, Wednesday, April 15th is the last day to order. Please contact any church member.
This Friday night at 7 PM, our church will host the Section 1 Ladies Rally. All ladies are invited to attend. The guest speaker is Jeanne Gunter. You will be blessed!
I want to wish a very Happy Anniversary to a special aunt and uncle of mine, Ronnie and Linda Tamor! On April 11th, they celebrated 62 years!
The Mt. Hermon Cemetery Board will hold its annual meeting on April 26, 2026 at 2:00 PM. The meeting will be held at the Ruritan Club.
