The August teachers and support staff of the month were Tonia Williams, Amanda Smithie, Brandie Kerbow, and Mr. Fred. Congratulations to you all! MHS appreciates the hard work and dedication that is given each day.
Custodian Appreciation Day was celebrated last Friday. MHS is very thankful for their amazing custodial team of Jimmy, Fred, Ray, and Janson!
Thursday, October 8th, is a big day for lots of students! At 5:30 PM, in the gym, the Junior Class Ring Ceremony will take place, along with the Letterman Jacket Presentation, and Beta Induction. Thursday is also Yearbook Picture Day, so students must be in uniform. Senior Athlete banner photos will be taken as well!
Grandparent’s Day will be celebrated Tuesday, the 13th at 8:00 AM, for PreK-3rd graders with breakfast and story time.
The 4th graders recently had a special visitor, Major Forrest Heintz of the 53rd Weather Recinnaissance Squadron, the “Hurricane Hunters”. He was part of Mrs. Lynn Lewis’s class as they closed out their ELA Guidebook unit on Hurricanes. Major Heintz shared with the class how crews fly WC-130J aircraft into hurricanes to collect data to improve forecasts. Students were able to hold an instrument used to collect weather data inside a storm, and they even tried on a flight helmet! The 4th graders are very thankful that Major Heintz was able to share his time and expertise.
Good luck to the MHS Jr. High Football team as they compete tomorrow (Oct. 8th) in the Parish Championship at Pine!
Good luck to the MHS Cross Country team as they compete this Saturday at St. Thomas Aquinas!
MHS has been quite busy rising and thriving, and will continue to rise and thrive!
Mt. Hermon United Pentecostal Church
The ladies of the church are gathering up recipes to make a cookbook. Let us know if you have a recipe that you would like to share. We plan on them being ready before Christmas. They will make wonderful gifts!
Have an amazing week!
