Hello once again to all my faithful readers out there. Hope this finds you well and keeping cool these hot days. It cools off a bit when the scattered showers come.
We had our church family Fourth of July meal on Sunday, June 29th following the morning service. The young guys did the grilling while others took care of preparing inside. Everyone enjoyed hamburgers with all the trimmings, hotdogs, sausage and pulled pork. The side dishes were baked beans and potato salad. Several desserts were also enjoyed. There was Sunday evening service. We also had home grown watermelon. The meal and fellowship were enjoyed by all in attendance. Special thanks to those who made the gathering possible. You all did a great job.
You are most welcome to join us. Sunday School at 9:30 am, worship at 10:30 am, Sunday evening at 5 pm, and Wednesday night at 6 pm. Hope to see you soon.
Churches in our area are having Vacation Bible School. This is the first time I can remember not having V.B.S. at Mt. Pisgah. I always looked forward to helping. For many years I had a class and loved every minute of it. Seeing the children learn about Gods word is a blessing: It's a special time boys and girls look forward to attending during the summer.
Years ago, my son William Allen "Bill" Alford attended his first Bible School at Clifton Baptist Church. His grandmother, Mrs. Audice Alford, carried him every day, since I was working. He was excited to go and come home telling what he had learned. At the end of the week, a commencement service was held. When the certificates were handed out his teacher had Roy on it. Later I was told that he told them his name was Roy Rogers. He always had a big imagination. By the way that was about sixty years ago. A great memory for me.
The children's camp is July 20th-23rd. They will go to Camp Living Waters near Robert, La. If you need more detail contact Cherie Smith.
The men's breakfast is Sunday, July 6th at 8:30 am held in the church fellowship hall.

A memorial service was held at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church on Saturday afternoon, June 21st, for Mary Ada James with Bro. Leon Hickman officiating. Following the service a meal prepared by family and close friends was served in the church fellowship hall. The family was very appreciative for all the love shown to them during this time.
Howard James of Lake Charles visited with his family for about two weeks. He was home during the loss of his sister-in-law Mary Ada James.
Please continue to pray for the sick, lonely, shut-ins, the bereaved, our church, community and our country.
Thought for the week! Even strong trials cannot blow down a person who is rooted in God.
I look forward to visiting with you next week. Same time-Same station- Keep on Smiling! Prayerfully, Nell
