Greetings! Valentine’s Day was this past Saturday. I hope your day was a special one. Hopefully you remembered your sweetheart with something special. By the way, if you forgot, I know --- you are now “in the doghouse”. Ha! Ha!
The annual D.A Varnado. Store Museum's Quilt Seminar held Saturday, February 7th was a great success. Many ladies were on hand to learn some tips and techniques of quilting. Quilt Chairman Jackie Smith welcomed everyone and asked me to open with prayer and blessing.
Ladies on the program were, Sandy Miller, Becky Creel, Valeree Brooks, Leesa Pierce, and Mary Beverly. A delicious lunch was served with a dessert of decorated cake and Cherry Delight.
Museum Director Terry Seal gave a brief talk about the museum and thanked everyone for coming. While there, everyone visited the museum to see all the beautiful new and old quilts on display. This was a real treat for the quilt lovers.
My granddaughter Breanna came and enjoyed being with us. Numerous door prizes were drawn. The day was enjoyed. Those on the program provided handouts with directions for making different types of quilts. If you haven't been to see the quilt display. It’s NOT too late; you have one more weekend to go. Saturday 10-4 pm and Sunday 1-4 pm. Not only will you enjoy going, you will be supporting the museum in our town of Franklinton.
M.H.S Homecoming Court was held prior to the basketball game. Several young ladies in 9th-12th grade were escorted across the court with all dressed to a “T”. Twelfth grader Kaliee Budde was named MHS 2026 Homecoming Queen. Congratulations Kaliee, I’m proud of you.
The seniors who played sports were also recognized. That night they played. I was happy to see my special young lady, Shunna Williams. She is still going to college. I’m very proud of her.
