Spring Time Greetings! Hello my friends and neighbors. We have been having some beautiful weather. Surely you have been enjoying the weather. Early mornings are cool and late afternoons are cool! I’ve been hearing that the vegetable gardens are being planted. My friend planted peas. Hopefully they will make a lot, so I can get some. I already ate the peas he gave me last year. They were so so good.
Our Easter service at Mt. Pisgah was special. Following the early service, everyone enjoyed a delicious breakfast held in the church fellowship hall.
Happy April birthday to the following: Ms. Terri Ortiz, Haley Stewart, Jada Johnson, Jeremy Beall, Shakur Warren, Louise Hart, Melo Smith, Zayden Elzey, Jude Warren, Shirley Griffin, Amanda Painter, Joey Painter, Raylee Hughes, Arayah Garcia, Jayla Washington, Kaylen Grace Anderson, Jadynn Renee Nicholson, Braelynn Jarrell, Kinley Jarrell, and Kaniya Dillon.
Years ago when Bro. Gerald and Kathy Wright were serving at Mt. Pisgah, Kathy played the Easter Bunny wearing a white bunny suit she made. The kids loved it. She gave the suit to me and later I played the Easter Bunny. Also some of our youth wore the suit.
I don’t remember the year, that Nellie Pearl Spears and I got baby rabbits for all the children. We opened the cages and bunnies were hopping everywhere. The bunnies they caught, they carried home with them. My boys were young.
On another occasion, there was an Easter Egg hunt at Mt. Pisgah that was a bit different. Whoever hid the eggs, hid some in unusual places. Days later they were found. I remember Mr. Ray Schilling found a decorated hard boiled egg inside his gas tank door. He found it days later when he got some gas. He surely was surprised. Being a good sport about it, we all had a good laugh. But the next year we made sure eggs were not hidden in or on vehicles.
The year of Covid, Patty threw hundreds of colored plastic eggs on the church grounds and invited the community children to come and get some eggs. I took my great grandchildren. Now, that was a sight to see. Having fun activities for the children were special and I have lots of special memories of them.
Monday, April 13th, students and teachers reported to school. Everyone reported having a great Spring Break. Now they are counting the days left to go to school, then out for the summer. Only about four weeks left. The last day for students is May 21st. My plan for Spring Break was to do some house chores, but that did not happen. That week went by fast. My friend said to me, “House cleaning will be here when you are dead and gone.” Believe me, I don’t worry about it.
Thought for the week! Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven. (Matthew 5:16)
Until next writing. Take care. Keep on smiling. It looks good on you!
Prayerfully, Nell
