Happy Fourth of July!
Can you believe that July is here? The Fourth is on Saturday this year. It is the birthday of our great country. I pray you have a fun, safe day. I'm not sure what I'll be doing, but I'll have something good to eat and some good ole Washington Parish watermelon. Please assist your children with those fireworks. They can be very dangerous.
The Watermelon Festival is July the 10th and 11th at the Washington Parish Fairgrounds. There will be lots of fun games and things to do. Hope to see you there!
Father's Day was Sunday, June 21st. Hopefully you had a great day eating and being with your children and grands. I sure do miss my dad, but I often reflect on those happy times with him and having all those wonderful veggies he would grow in the garden. Gardening was one of his specialties. Not only did he provide for us, he loved giving to his friends. He was a hard worker and had a heart of giving. Something he took much pride in.
Happy July birthday to the following special ones. Have a blessed day. My son Bryan Keith Alford, my grandson Christopher Loyd Alford, my great granddaughter McKayla Breanna Gimain, my nieces Sharon Watson, Rebekah Mascaro and Kourtney Ingram Herring, Jonathan Lee Schubert, Jason Watkins, Linda Miller, Angela Stafford, Tricia Wood Thomas, Sister Sandy Miller, Jean Pate, Kristy Alford Morgan, Christine Morris, Kaitlyn Miller, Beverly Mier, Sydney Wells, Ms. Catherine Davis, John and Matthew Miller, John Samuel Tynes, Lena G. Bennett, Thomas Bankston and Patrick Bankston.
A Special Happy belated birthday to my little song bird, Jacob Eder who celebrated his birthday on Saturday, June 27th. He sings my favorite Elvis music.
Brenda Burch celebrated her birthday on June 14th. While being off work she enjoyed an outing. Her mom Evelyn and sister Barbara enjoyed eating at Bourne's Restaurant. They visited her Aunt Marilyn and husband Dewayne and enjoyed a dish of sherbert together.
Continue to pray for all the needs in our community, state and world. God be with us.
Thought for the week! Even strong trials cannot blow down a person who is rooted in God.
I look forward to visiting with you next week. Take care of yourself and your family. Keep on smiling -
