Our great fair is here!
By the time this comes out, our fair will be underway. The parade rolled down the streets of our fair city this morning. People were excited to see the beautifully decorated floats and other attractions.
For the next five days, there will be much to see and do. There is something for all ages, from the youngest to the young at heart. For the past few days I've been thinking about what I could enter at the fair. I'm hoping to get cookies and brownies made to enter in the baking division in the homemakers building. Maybe I'll win a blue ribbon.
One thing everyone looks forward to getting is fair food in many varieties. Once you step on the grounds you smell the aroma of the food and it makes you hungry. One of my favorites is the funnel cake. Fried batter with powdered sugar is wonderful. Just thinking about it only makes my mouth water. The fair comes once a year, so go enjoy yourself. You can support our fair by buying membership tickets. There are some nice prizes that will be given away. They draw every night and at the close of the fair.
There will be a variety of entertainment on the big stage and Down by the Branch.
Exhibits will be on display in the Homemakers Building, Flower House, Creative Crafts, Arts and Crops. The educational building will have stories, poems and etc. written by our school students. You must go to Mile Branch. It will take you back in time. Get homemade syrup and corn meal plus much more. The country store also has goodies. There will be good ole gospel singing inside the Church. Free coffee and water are available. Our time to sing in the Church is Saturday, October 24th between 11:30 am and 1 pm. You are invited to join the different churches during the fair. By the way, take the kids to see Ole McDonald's Farm where the livestock is. They will love it.
Lots of fond memories are made at the fair. Hope to see you there. Have fun, fun, fun.

Well folks, the fair weather came early this year. Last Friday afternoon, the weather made a change. The wind was strong and it was really cool. It was predicted to be in the 40's this past weekend. Be prepared for the weather when you go to the fair.
By the way, Happy Birthday to me! Today, Wednesday October 21st is my 86th birthday and I plan to be at the fair. I'm so thankful for every day the Lord gives me.
I hope to see you are the fair! - Prayerfully Nell
