Public hearing set to discuss grant being sought by sheriff's office

The Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office will be holding a public hearing to discuss a grant that has been applied for. The public hearing is set for 4:15 p.m. on Monday, November 4 in the Parish Council Meeting Room at the Courthouse. prior to the Parish Council meeting.
The grant would fund new equipment for use in the jail.

Early voting underway; 64% turnout is predicted

Early voting is now underway for the November 5 presidential election, which also includes a race for Mayor of Franklinton and other local offices in Washington Parish.
Based on early voting so far, Washington Parish Registrar of Voters Randy Strickland is predicting approximately 64% voter turnout for the Nov. 5 election.
