2003 FHS graduate parachuted at Normandy, France on 80th anniversary of D-Day

A 2003 Franklinton High School graduate marked the 80th anniversary of D-Day with a parachute jump in Normandy, France.
Nicole Finch, who now lives in Louisville, Kentucky, jumped from a World War II C-47 near where the actual D-Day airborne troops jumped on June 7, 1944 --- 80 years ago.

Parish School board faced a full agenda at June 6 meeting

The Washington Parish School Board held its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, June 6. Following the Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance, the minutes from the May 16 Regular Board Meeting were adopted. The Board then steadily worked through a full agenda of items.

Washington Parish events planned to mark Juneteenth

Two events are scheduled for Washington Parish that mark the Juneteenth holiday.
This Saturday (June 15) the Washington Parish NAACP will sponsor a “Juneteenth Jamboree” in Bogalusa. The event begins with a parade in Bogalusa at 10 a.m. At noon, activities in Cassidy Park will begin and continue until 6 p.m.
