Varied agenda at parish council meeting

The Washington Parish Council and President met on Monday, December 4 in Council Chambers. Vice Chairman Joe Culpepper presided for the absent Chairman Shawn Rice. Following the invocation and Pledge of Allegiance, the board began business by approving the minutes from the November 20 meeting.

New parish president to be sworn in on January 8

Newly elected Washington Parish President Ryan Seal will be sworn into office on January 8, 2024.
He will be sworn in along with all of the parish councilmen prior to the regular Parish Council meeting.
All of the re-elected councilmen and one new member will be starting new four-year terms, as will Seal.

Santa to be at Franklinton City Hall

Local youngsters will soon have the opportunity to meet Santa and perhaps offer evidence of their outstanding behavior during the past year.
Santa will be making an appearance at Franklinton City Hall on 11th Avenue on Friday, December 22. He’ll arrive at 6 p.m. and will remain at City Hall until 7:30 p.m.
