Franklinton firefighters at library for summer reading program

The Franklinton Library staff has expressed its appreciation to the Franklinton Fire Department for coming to the library during the Summer Reading Program. Firefighters read "Pete the Cat Firefighter Pete" .
The children in the program also learned about fire safety and the equipment used in case of a fire.

Inmate charged with sexual battery on corrections deputy

Reginald Magee, 45, has been a Washington Parish Jail inmate since August 2020 when he was arrested and charged with first degree rape, second degree attempted murder, home invasion, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, theft, issuing worthless checks and three counts of failure to appear in court. His bond ist $750,000.

Mount Hermon Ruritan Club Marks 75th anniversary

A crowd gathered at the Mount Hermon Ruritan Club this past Saturday for a significant occasion: The 75th anniversary of the club’s founding.
The national president of Ruritan, Glen Broadwater or Virginia, was present, along with local elected officials and friends and relatives of Ruritan members.
