The Franklinton Demons baseball team participated in the Pine jamboree with mixed results as they fell to the host Raiders 3-0 and soundly defeated the Bogalusa Lumberjacks 9-0. Both jamboree games consisted of three full innings of play. The Raiders also defeated the Varnado Wildcats 8-0 on the other varsity jamboree game. The Demons will play Chalmette on February 12 and host Ponchatoula on February 13 before hosting Northshore on February 14. The Raiders will play St Martins and Covington on February 14.
The Demons put a runner on in the top of the first inning but couldn't move him around. The Raiders scored two runs in the bottom of the first as their lead off batter was hit by a pitch before an RBI single by Kage Freeman. An error on a groundout allowed another run for a 2-0 lead.
The Raiders scored again in the bottom of the third as they put two on by a walk and a single by Brody Thomas. An error by the Demons allowed the third and final run for the 3-0 final score.
The Demons only had one hit, a single by Jojo Burkhalter. The Raiders had two as Freeman and Thomas each had a single.
The Demons pitching allowed two hits, one walk and had five strikeouts. Rick Songy pitched the first inning and Bryce Barber went the other two innings. The Raiders' Brody Thomas pitched two innings giving up one hit and striking out four. Levi White pitched on inning with one strikeout.
