Game of the Week - Hammond 3-0 at Fontainebleau 2-1. I've seen both of these teams play and they both have solid rushing offenses. Hammond has a very good back and Fontainebleau can run the ball as well as pass efficiently. With all the running that will likely occur this game will probably get over in a hurry, so don't be late.
Should be a good one.
Notes and Quotes
West Monroe head football coach Todd Garvin, has been relieved of his coaching duties per West Monroe principal Dan Lane in a news release. Kevin Davis is now the interim coach for the remainder of the season. Garvin has taken an assistant position at Ruston, where he was a coach previously.
"Just the way it unfolded, you could make a bunch of excuses. We're really beat up. We're starting to get a little overwhelmed with injuries. But, at the end of the day we couldn't make a play to end the game and they made a play to win the game. That's it in a nutshell. Fourth and ten we couldn't get off the field on defense and run the clock out. We couldn't make the play on fourth and ten that they made to win the game. That's just the way it went.
We have to lean on our resiliency and keep on fighting. Nobody is in or out of the playoffs after week three. We're going to keep doing what we do and at the end of the day we'll be where we'll be. We'll be in it or out of it, right now I think we're in it and I think we're going to be a really good football team. But, right now there is still work to do. Denham Springs is going to be a tough out for us, they are a 5A school, they're big and they were a quarterfinal team last year." ---Franklinton coach Nick Saltaformaggio
"Total team win. Special teams was big. We recovered the opening kick and jumped on them early. We had three backs over 100 yards rushing and defense held them to less than 150 yards. I'm proud of our team." ---Pine coach Bradley Seal
"They have a good ball team and they should win their district. They block and tackle well. That's what football is all about and that's what it takes to win. We need to get better at that. We are young but this experience will help us get better in the long run. We have a winnable game next week. Hopefully we have a good week at practice and get a win next week." ---Varnado coach Adam Brumfield
"Great effort by our team. Wayne is a tough place to play. They have tradition and it is a hard place to play. I was told that BG has not beaten them at their place in ten years. All that changed Friday night. The guys were physical on both sides of the ball and took control of the game on the first drive and the game was never in question. Proud of our effort." ---Bowling Green coach Jason Johnson
"Our kids played in a very physical game Friday night. We played good enough to win and if we would have had a couple of calls go our way we would have won. It is always tough when you get three touchdowns called back on petty stuff. But at the end of the day, we lost and we have to grow from it and finish the rest of this season strong." ---Bens Ford coach Destin Pittman
