According to the Red Cross Blood Donation website every 15 seconds someone needs platelets. Platelets must be used within 5 days and new donors are needed every day. Anyone can give blood. You need to be at least 16 with an ID and parental consent (or 17 and older), weigh at least 110 pounds, and in good health.

Blood Drive for my brother Mike Sharp last Saturday. It was good to see so many support him in his fight against leukemia. I was able to see two people actually give platelets which was very cool and there were about 11-12 more who gave whole blood.

Spring seems to finally be in the air, or at least the pollen is! My poor car looks like it has been seasoned in that yellow dust. Our grass is finally turning green and the weather has been pretty nice, but this is Louisiana, we can have all four seasons in one day.

Mr. Jesse Corkern celebrated his 73rd birthday on March 1st. He was celebrated and surrounded by friends and family at his home. Lots of yummy cake, ice cream, and hot dogs were served and Mr. Jesse had the best time visiting with others. Mr. Jesse just keep on smiling, we all hope you had a grand day!
