Traffic stop led to 7 month investigation and 8 arrests

A traffic stop by Franklinton police officers in July of last year has led to a seven month ongoing investigation that resulted in the arrests of 7 adults and 1 juvenile.
On July 25, 2023, Franklinton officers stopped a vehicle. The stop led to the arrest of a 16 year old juvenile and 21-year-old Dillian Mellerine.

Sheriff's Office: New Hampshire trucker targeted local juvenile via online game

A cross-country truck driver from New Hampshire is in the Washington Parish jail, charged with sexual battery, indecent behavior with a juvenile, and trafficking of children for sexual purposes.
Benjamin Hart, age 27, was arrested in New Mexico on April 3, 2023. He has been held there while contesting extradition to Washington Parish.

Franklinton Council has varied agenda in first meeting of 2024

The Franklinton Board of Aldermen and Mayor Greg Route held the first meeting of the new year on Tuesday, January 9.. Pastor John Franklin of First Pentecostal Church gave the invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The first order of business was the approval of minutes from the December 12, 2023, regular meeting.
